schnoöd: scarf, hood, snood
The brief of this project was to create a device that protected against wind and rain. The outcome is a versatile scarf that holds a poncho on the inside. The scarf and poncho are detachable from each other, making way for easier cleaning and storage.
Never fear forgetting an umbrella on cold, rainy days again.

design process
Due to the broad brief, as a team we decided to analyse it by brainstorming:
(a) Case scenarios of when one needs to protect themselves from wind and rain
(b) Concepts/mechanisms to protect them in each scenario - no matter how wild
(b) Concepts/mechanisms to protect them in each scenario - no matter how wild

We focused on the commuter's experience. As Londoners, rain comes sporadically and without warning. Getting caught in the rain, without an umbrella is a common occurrence. We wanted to create a product that we won't ever forget to bring to help protect ourselves against the rain. We thought: during grey English winters, everyone wears a scarf. This paved the way for the idea of the schnoöd.

Storyboard for schnoöd
There are similar products on the market. However, they do not suit our target users of young (18-30 years old) commuters. Several factors including prices and styles available made us come to this conclusion. So we had to create something in this market gap.
